Council members: No CityFHEPS expansion? No budget
New York City Council members aren’t giving up on the expansion of CityFHEPS. Some lawmakers are threatening to vote no on any budget deal that doesn’t include expansion of the city’s housing voucher program, City Limits reported. An expansion of the program, which first launched in 2018 and helps New Yorkers who are or are at risk of homelessness, has not been included in budget plans from both Speaker Julie Menin and — despite the campaign promise — Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
