NYC’s eviction aid leaves applicants — and landlords — in the cold

Zohran Mamdani came into office promising an aggressive approach to eviction prevention. For thousands of New York renters facing the loss of their homes, the city’s emergency assistance program is still mostly a dead end. The city rejected about 75 percent of nearly 30,000 applications for One-Shot Deals tied to rent arrears from January through March, Gothamist reported.
